Classes
100 Level Basic
Concealed Handgun
Permit Class
In this class
you will learn the
Colorado laws as
they pertain to
handguns, your
rights as a permit
holder and what you
can and cannot do.
This is a live fire
class where you will
shoot between
100-150 rounds of
ammunition. Topics
include safe
firearms
handling, basic
marksmanship,
natural point of
aim, manipulation
and firing of your
handgun, movement
with your handgun
and malfunction
clearance drills to
name a few. At the
conclusion of this
class you will meet
the requirements
necessary to apply
for your Concealed
Handgun Permit. This
is a one day class
and during the
fall/winter/spring
months will be at
the Routt County
Rifle Club indoor
range, weather
permitting it may be
held outdoors. Cost
is $150.00 per
student.
200 Level
Intermediate/Refresher
Handgun Class
The intermediate
class is a great
stepping stone for
those students who
have completed the
Basic CHP Class and
are looking for more
training and
knowledge. This is a
live fire class with
a short classroom
portion to help
refresh returning
students who are
looking for a
refresher course.
Students will need
to provide 100-150
rounds of their own
ammunition. Topics
will include the
safe manipulation of
your handgun, a
review of basic
marksmanship, movement
while firing your
handgun, shooting
from cover, shooting
while seated,
shooting in low/no
light scenarios,
long range pistol
accuracy challenge,
a combat course and
much more. This is a
one day class and
may not be offered
during the
fall/winter/spring
months due to space
restrictions with
the indoor range.

300 Level Advanced
Handgun Class
The advanced
class is offered
only once or twice a
year depending on
the demand. Due to
the gun handling
skills needed for
this class,
beginners will not
be accepted as
students. You will
be expected to have
completed at least
the 100 and 200
levels of training
or comparable
training as
determined by the
instructors. This is
a high energy class
that will quench
your thirst for more
knowledge. You will
learn how to safely
operate your handgun
with only one hand,
your support hand.
Your will perform
reloads, malfunction
drills and courses
of fire without the
use of your strong
side hand (right
hand for right
handed shooters).
You will be
introduced to
different
malfunction
clearance drills,
stress drills and
speed versus
accuracy drills and
much, much more.
This class may be
held year-round with
a maximum of eight
students. Contact

You will need at
least 250 rounds for
this one day class.
Cost is $250.00 per
student.
100 Level Basic
Carbine Class
This basic entry
class will teach the
newcomer how to
operate their
AR-15/M-16/Mini-14
type rifle. We will
cover how to safely
handle and operate
the rifle,
aftermarket
accessories, rifle
ballistics, how to
zero the
rifle, basic rifle
marksmanship,
malfunction
clearance drills,
moving to contact,
shooting from cover,
different shooting
positions and many
other topics. We ask
that you have your
rifle zeroed for
this class, contact
one of our
instructors if you
need assistance
before the day of
class. You will
need approximately
300 rounds and at
least two magazines.
This class is held
in the summer and
will cover distances
from 5 yards to 200
yards. Contact
instructors for
additional
information and
upcoming classes.
Cost is $150 per
student.
100 Level Basic
Long Range Rifle
Class
This class is
ideal for the
beginning target or
hunting shooter who
wants to learn more
about their scoped
rifle. Class size is
kept small to
increase learning
opportunities. You
will learn safe
handling of your
scoped rifle,
ballistics, ways to
accurize your rifle,
basic rifle
marksmanship,
weather factors,
range estimation,
your personal
limits and shot
placement. This
class will be done
out to 300 yards at
the Hayden range.
You will learn how
to increase your
chances of a first
shot "hit" whether
hunting or target
practicing. We ask
that you zero your
rifle prior to the
day of class,
contact one of our
instructors if you
need assistance
prior to the day of
class. You will need
a center fire rifle,
shooting mat,
approximately 150
rounds of quality
ammunition and a
spotting scope, and
preferably a target
knob style scope for
making adjustments.

encourage students
to come in pairs so
they can learn how
to be a "spotter."
Cost is $150 per
student.

comfortable in a
group setting or not
able to make our
normal dates, we are
willing to work with
your schedule.
