Concealed Weapons Applications Process - from the Routt County,
CO Sheriff's Office website. 7/09 |
Carry
Concealed Weapon (CCW) permits are available at the Reception
Desk of the Routt County Sheriff's Office during normal office
hours. A CCW permit applicant shall complete the permit
application and return it, in person, to the Routt County
Sheriff’s Office between the hours of 8:00 am and 11:00 am,
Monday through Friday. The Routt County Sheriff's Office is
located at 2025 Shield Drive, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.
When submitting an application, applicants need to allow time to
be fingerprinted as a part of the application process. Your
Carry Concealed Weapon permit application signature may be
completed in the presence of a Routt County Sheriff's Office
employee or with a Notary as witness.
In addition to the completed application form, CCW permit
applicants must submit the following:
1. A $52.50 processing fee in the form of a cashier’s check or
money order, made payable to the Colorado Bureau of
Investigation (CBI).
2. A $100.00 processing fee in the form of a cashier’s check,
money order, or personal check, made payable to the Routt County
Sheriff’s Office.
3. Proof of Routt County residency, such as a valid Colorado
Drivers License.
4. Documentary evidence demonstrating competence with a handgun
as specified in the Training Section of the Application
Information Packet.
Once a completed application has been submitted, please allow
approximately two to ten weeks for review by the Colorado Bureau
of Investigation. A representative from the Routt County
Sheriff's Office will contact the applicant when the application
process has been completed. Approved applicants will then be
required to come to the Routt County Sheriff's Office on Mondays
and Wednesdays between 8:00 am and 10:00 am for a photo and to
receive their CCW permit.

COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. |
